Why We're Unique: The WEL Exam

Did you know that 80% of what you perceive comes directly through your eyes? Your eyes are a window to your body, revealing many health conditions and vision problems. A WEL Exam is a wellness check for your eyes, and a preventative care exam for the rest of your body. During our WEL Exam, our doctors will ask you questions about your vision, your activities and your goals for long-term health.

Your Annual Eye Exam

Regardless of whether you need glasses or contacts, we recommend adding an annual eye exam to your calendar. The eye exam includes screenings that are quick, painless and can detect and hopefully prevent disease or early-onset illnesses which might develop over time to cause vision loss.

Our exams take the guesswork out of the dreaded “which is better, one or two?” question. Our doctors and staff will walk you through each step of our testing and screening processes so that you feel confident and comfortable. Using our computer-based equipment, we’re able to write extremely accurate prescriptions.

WEL Exams: What to Expect

One instrument makes a 3D scan of the back of your eye to assess the health of your retina and optic nerve as well as identify any early signs of macular degeneration. We keep these scans in your file so that over time we can identify any changes in your eyes that may be of concern. You are likely already familiar with the machine that sends a “puff” of air towards your eye. This instrument allows us to assess your risk of glaucoma. Depending on your eye health, symptoms and other circumstances, your doctor may administer additional screenings to fully assess your eye health.
